  • VATICAN AND NORWEGIAN ENVOYS ON VISIT TO NORTH

    The Papal delegate Rev. Mario Zenario, Vatican Apostolic Nuncio, and a Norwegian delegation headed by Norwegian Ambassador Mr. Hans Brattskar, arrived in Jaffna yesterday (04 January 2005) on an official visit to see the loss and damage of the disaster.

  • MEDICAL STOCKS DONATED TO MANTHIKAI HOSPITAL

    It is a Portugese medical team this time in the north with medical supplies for tsunami victims in Jaffna peninsula. The five-member team, headed by Dr Tony Anthonio now in Sri Lanka following the SOS appeal of the government for humanitarian assistance flew to Jaffna on Sunday (9) with their consignment of medical relief.
  • CDS and Army Chief visit Mannar

    Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Admiral Daya Sandagiri and Army Commander Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka with a view to taking stock of the ground realities, visited Mannar Saturday (14) morning in the company of several Senior Officers. During the tour both service chiefs spoke to a cross section of the Security Forces personnel deployed in the area and inquired into their welfare, etc. Admiral Daya Sandagiri and Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka returned to Colombo Saturday (14) evening.
