AMPARA : LTTE JANAK CAMP that lies west of KANCHKUDICHCHIARU in AMPARA district, which has hitherto been a stronghold for LTTE artillery and mortar gun positions was brought under complete control of the Special Task Force (STF), engaged in neutralizing the LTTE firing locations in the east this evening (11).
The STF after giving stiff resistance to LTTE terrorists finally managed to physicaly capture main JANAK camp and seven other sub camps, forcing the terrorists to flee the area of KANCHKUDICHCHIARU.
The STF while clearing the area found four LTTE dead bodies, a large number of warlike items and equipment including a bulk of uniforms.
Meanwhile, STF confirmed that a large number of terrorists and four STF troops were injured due to this confrontation.
