    The Sri Lanka Army, much admired by the common folks as Guardians of the Nation made history this morning (8th September 2004) when its UN bound peace-keeping troops formally bade au revoir at a colourful military ceremony held at Panagoda Army Cantonment graced by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General S. H. S Kottegoda and a host of other Senior Officers of the Army.

    The Old Boys\' Association (OBA) at S Thomas\' College, Mount Lavinia, paying a glittering tribute to one of its illustrious old products, Lieutenant General S. H. S Kottegoda on Monday (6) felicitated him on his assumption of duties as the 17th Commander of the Army in a service of prayer, praise, worship, thanksgiving and dedication held at the college premises.

    The battlefield-experienced Sri Lanka Army with its life span of 55 years made history again on Saturday (25th September 2004) when its Commander Lieutenant General S. H. S Kottegoda extended his best wishes and bade au revoir to his military men bound for Haiti on UN Peacekeeping missions en masse for the first time in Army's history.

    A coincidental meeting, Commander Lt General Shantha Kottegoda and his wife, Mrs Sonia Kottegoda, has had with a team of Thai monks at the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of Tooth) premises while the Commander was on a private visit, paid dividends after those Thai monks visited the Army Headquarters on Monday (26) with donations to children of Ranaviru families.

    Soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army, deployed in areas under 23 Division Headquarters in Minneriya received a surprise audience with their Commander, Lieutenant General S.H.S Kottegoda when the Army Commander on Friday (23) went there with a view to addressing any issues or grievances that are associated with their performance of duties.
