Army Engineers Summoned To Avert Disaster

HAMBANTOTA : SRI LANKA ARMY ENGINEERS have been summoned to attend to the urgent repairs that had caused to the YODHAWEVA tank bund in TISSAMAHARAMA area following torrential rains and rising flood levels.

Subsequent to an SOS request made to the Commander of the Army by Maganeguma (road development programme), Army Engineers from EMBILIPITIYA Regimental Headquarters and COLOMBO camps rushed to the affected area late last night as swelling water levels began to cause damages to the YODHAWEVA bund.

Soldiers are busy now attending to the repairs at the time this report was being filed Friday (12) afternoon at 1.00 p.m. (local time).
