, the thrilling motor vehicle journey, organized for the second time by the Commando Regiment (CR), kicked off symbolically on Sunday (2) from Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte before the actual six-day tour begins from Jaffna on Monday (3). Jayagrahanaya’ (Success) Foundation in Colombo provided a push bicycle to a child of a low - income family in Hambanthota area on Wednesday (29) during a simple gathering at Bandagiriya primary school. The Grade 9 student, M.M Imesha Sandeepani who lost her mother during the Tsunami catastrophe, is now living under the care of her grandmother but has to travel a long way to school back and forth due to scarcity of transport facilities.

Preliminary investigations of the Sri Lanka Military Police into Monday (20) night’s arrest of civil-clad three Army soldiers with a weapon in Mirihana area while travelling in a white van, have confirmed that neither those soldiers, nor the vehicle in question, was involved in any criminal act whatsoever, but necessary legal action would be instituted against breach of military law, if any upon completion of Military Police investigations, Military Spokesman, Brigadier K.J Jayaweera said.

A 7- member board visited all 24 regular and volunteer SLLI units and inspected relevant areas including “G” matters, “A” matters, Logistic matters, Legal matters, accounts, audits and sports. From the regular units, 26 SLLI was adjudged the best Battalion while 7 SLLI became the runners-up.
