Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc took reins as the new Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna on Monday (12 June) amidst religious observances and military formalities.
At the entrance to the Security Force HQ - Jaffna, the incoming Jaffna Commander was saluted in a Guard Turnout before he was honoured in a Guard of Honour, presented by Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops of the SFHQ-J.
After a while, he placed his signature in an official document signifying the acceptance of his new office, amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the ‘Maha Sangha’ in the presence of Senior Officers.
Religious dignitaries of Hindu, Catholic and Islam were also present during the inaugural formalities who also blessed him on his new appointment. Adding memories, he was then invited to plant a mango sapling in the compound and sat for a few group photographs.
As the next segment, Major General S.R.K Hettiarachchi RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc paying tribute to the memory of fallen War Heroes placed a floral tribute at the Palaly War Heroes’ monument.
General Officers Commanding of 51, 52, and 55 Infantry Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the day’s agenda.
