Signallers Bid Farewell to Retiring SLSC Colonel Commandant at Regimental HQ

Major General Lalith Herath, the retiring 15th Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) and Chief Signal Officer received a customary farewell salute from the SLSC Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda on 02 March before relinquishing his duties after an exemplary service of more than 35 years.

Major General Lalith Herath was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Colonel Kasun Adikari and accorded a Guard Turnout on his arrival at the main entrance at the RHQ SLSC in conformity with military traditions.

Afterwards, he laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes before he was honoured in a ceremonial parade which was followed by an all rank tea.

Then, he addressed all the troops and the outgoing Colonel Commandant was afterwards awarded a souvenir in appreciation of his reputed service, rendered to the Regiment.

Adding further significance, the outgoing Colonel Commandant also declared open the newly-constructed Colonels’ Accommodation Block at the Regimental Officers’ Mess as the concluding event in his military career.

Later, all Officers and Other Ranks in a moving gesture, honoured him in a street-line salute as he drove towards the main gate.
