Jaffna St Benedict's Teachers Give Profuse Thanks for Army Hospitality in Colombo

"The endeavour you took for us has united us more strongly than ever before and you inspired me to undertake this tour. My words are inadequate to express thanks and we were awe-struck with amazement the way you organized and implemented our visit to Colombo and we are thankful to you for your excellent hospitality as we collected a lot of experience in sharing, caring and understanding. Our interactions with principals at both Ladies' College and Bishop's College enlightened us and offered a lot of advice on student as well as teacher handling. We saw ourselves how students with their own initiatives were holding sports meets, staging entertaining concerts during the two-day stay in Colombo which were of immense value to us, teachers, " so wrote Sister M. Gnanadharshini, Principal, Jaffna-Nallur St Bendedict's Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed Vidyalayam to Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army in a letter of gratitude for their trip to Colombo, implemented following the personal supervision of the Army Chief.

A group of teachers from the Jaffna-Nallur St Benedict's RCTM Vidyalayam, some of them with their kids, arrived in Colombo recently in order to meet their Colombo counterparts in Bishop's College and Ladies' College after initial arrangements were mooted by the Commander himself as a step towards bridging gaps and promotion of reconciliatory gestures between the North and the South. These teachers visited several places of tourist interest in Colombo and shared views with principals, teachers and students alike during their interactive sessions as those letters appearing below this story stated.

Major General R Rathnasingham, Master General Ordnance and a few lady officers and officers coordinated the entire trip to the South on the directions of the Commander of the Army.
