Jaffna Security Force Headquarters Marks Its Birth Day

Laying floral wreaths at Palaly War Hero Monument, Guard of Honour, Hospital Visits, Religious Observances and a few more commemorative arrangements marked the 17th anniversary of the establishment of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) beginning the first week of June.

Soon after Jaffna which came under siege to terrorists was rescued by heroic Jaffna troops, the SFHQ-J was raised on 19th June 1996 at Palaly, being the first-ever SFHQ of the Army.

Religious rites and rituals at Maviddapuram Skandha Temple, Atchively St. Mary’s Church, Jaffna Jumma Mosque and Palaly Bo Maluwa Vihara in the SFHQ-J premises invoked blessings on the SFHQ-J’s forward-march before anniversary programmes reached climax on Friday (21).

Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Security Force Commander, Jaffna commenced the final leg of the programme by placing floral wreaths at the War Hero monument and visiting the soldiers, receiving medical attention at the Palaly Army Hospital with gift parcels.

A Guard of Honour, presented to the Jaffna Commander at the SFHQ-J premises saluted him at the SFHQ-J premises earlier on Friday (21).

The SFHQ-J, one of the most active and prominent military establishments in the country continues to conduct multi-faceted community projects for the best interests of the public in the peninsula. It has equally contributed to the success of fighting against terrorists and the completion of the humanitarian operations.
