On this Vesak full moon Poya Day that commemorates birth, enlightenment and Parinibbana of the Lord Buddha, we can further develop our pleasant thoughts by engaging ourselves in offering of ‘Amisa Pooja’ as well as ‘Prathipaththi Pooja’. The spirit of Vesak which radiates worldwide the message of loving kindness and happiness among all beings is a virtue of rejoice to every Buddhist in the world.
People in the country this year mark Vesak freely as they wish with the dawn of peace after the end of a three-decade long War. You also deserve the respect for it and you all fought in a dedicated and committed manner to make that moment a reality in the name of humanity and all Sri Lankans. This truth has been accepted by all segments of people in society.
On this important day, we all as Buddhists must be determined to lead our lives in accordance with Buddhist ways of teaching and its principles.
Let me invoke merits, on slain War Heroes who sacrificed their lives at the front to protect the territorial integrity of the country to attain ‘Nibbana’ and also wish speedy recovery to all those still recuperating after battlefield injuries," Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya states in his message.
