Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) presided over the closing ceremony of the 80th CISM General Assembly and Congress, held today (May 23) at the Grand Maitland, Colombo.

The 75th Anniversary History Book - Third Volume of the 1st Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) was ceremonially launched on 21 May 2025 at the Regimental Centre of SLLI.

A Sri Lankan delegation headed by Hon. Arun Hemachandra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, participated in the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial 2025, held in Berlin, Germany, from 13-14 May 2025.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, participated as a distinguished guest at the Land Forces Pacific (LANPAC) Symposium & Exposition 2025, held from 13 – 15 May 2025 in Honolulu, Hawaii. The event, organised annually by the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), serves as a key international platform highlighting the role of land forces in the Indo-Pacific region and their contributions to the Joint Force in times of peace and conflict.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, formally invested newly promoted Major Generals of the Sri Lanka Army during a ceremony held on 20th May 2025, joined by their family members.

Further, 10093 Other Ranks of the Army were also promoted to their respective next rank by Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army.

Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) officially inaugurated the 80th General Assembly and Congress of the International Military Sports Council (CISM) at a ceremonial event held at The Grand Maitland Hotel in Colombo today (May 19).
