The Directorate of Welfare of the Sri Lanka Army conducted a special donation programme on 12 August 2025 to provide laptops to Government university students who are children of serving Army personnel. The initiative targeted first-year undergraduates who gained university admission following their successful completion of the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination - 2023.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army reviewed the issues and welfare activities concerning differently-abled soldiers who had been gathered at the Army Physical Training School (APTS) in Panagoda on 06 August 2025. The event was coordinated by the Directorate of Veteran Affairs and Rehabilitation.
In a move to enhance leadership competence and decision-making abilities among military personnel, an awareness lecture on the ‘Human Factor’ was held at the Army Headquarters on 01 August 2025. The session was conducted under the directives of the Commander of the Army and under the close supervision of Major General W.M.N.K.D Bandara RWP RSP USP psc, the Director General Training.
The 13th Defence Services Karate Tournament was hosted by the Sri Lanka Army on 04 and 05 August 2025 at the Indoor Stadium of the Army Physical Training School, Panagoda.

The Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) ceremoniously held its Diploma Awarding Ceremony – 2025 on 05 August 2025 at the Sino–Lanka Auditorium, Diyatalawa. Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Major General K.W. Jayaweera USP psc of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment, who was recently promoted to the rank of Major General, received the symbol of authority and greetings from Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army, during a formal courtesy call held on 04 August 2025 at the Army Headquarters.
The Finals of the Commander's Cup Inter-Regiment Rugby Championship, which commenced on 24 June 2025, concluded on 01 August 2025 at the Army Rugby Ground, Army Cantonment in Panagoda, was held with the participation of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) and the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) teams.
Major General W.M.P.M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, Commander, 1 Corps and Colonel Commandant of the Military Intelligence Corps, was invited to the office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, on 01 August 2025, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after completing a distinguished military career spanning over 35 years.
