The Finals of the Commander's Cup Inter-Regiment Rugby Championship, which commenced on 24 June 2025, concluded on 01 August 2025 at the Army Rugby Ground, Army Cantonment in Panagoda, was held with the participation of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) and the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) teams.
Major General W.M.P.M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, Commander, 1 Corps and Colonel Commandant of the Military Intelligence Corps, was invited to the office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, on 01 August 2025, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after completing a distinguished military career spanning over 35 years.
The Sri Lanka Army organised several medical camps across the island from 20th January 2025 for disabled and retired Army personnel. In keeping with the vision articulated in the Clean Sri Lanka programme, introduced under the guidance of His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, this initiative aims to promote inclusive healthcare and safeguard the wellbeing of disabled veterans as part of a dignified and healthy society.
Major General S.A Hettige RSP psc, Director General of Directorate of Overseas Operations was invited to the office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, on 30 July 2025, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after completing a distinguished military career spanning over 33 years.
The Defence Service Cricket Tournament 2024/2025, conducted by the Defence Services Sports Board, took place from 02 to 29 July 2025 at the cricket grounds in Panagoda, Welisara, and Katunayake.
Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Mr. Rémi Lambert, along with Colonel Emmanuel PELTRIAUX, Defence Attaché, based in New Delhi, met with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, at Army Headquarters on 30 July 2025.
The Directorate of Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation in collaboration with Ranaviru Seva Authority organised a medical camp for differently-abled retired personnel on 30 July 2025 at Volunteer Force Training School, Diyathalawa. The initiative aimed to address the healthcare needs of Army veterans residing in the Uva Province.
The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, visited The Grand Maitland in Colombo 07 on 28 July 2025 to inspect the Multi-Facility Complex.
The 40th National Rowing Championship took place on 23, 24, 25, and 26 July 2025 at the Diyawanna Rowing Centre, organised by the National Association of Rowing.
