Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) of the Sri Lanka Army, conducted an official visit to the Laya Waves Army Holiday Resort, Kalkudah, on 18 August 2025. During the visit, the General Manager delivered a detailed briefing on issues pertaining to the hotel and accompanied the visiting Senior Officer to inspect the premises, including the main restaurant, kitchen, and Other Ranks’ living area.

Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), undertook an official field visit to the 1 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps (1 SLAPC) at Palawaththa on 18 August 2025.

Under the guidance of the Commander of the Army, a large-scale renovation is currently underway at the Sri Lanka Parliamentary Complex, conducted by the troops of the 1st Field Regiment of the Sri Lanka Engineers and the 6 (V) Engineer Services Regiment, under the supervision of the Chief Field Engineer’s Office and the Directorate of Engineer Services.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, paid a visit to the Embilipitiya Sri Bodhiraja Foundation on 13 August 2025 evening, where he received blessings from Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobhitha thero, the originator of Sri Bodhiraja Foundation.

The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) conducted a two-day training programme for Commanding Officers and Liaison Officers under the guidance of Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant of SLAVF, from 13 to 14 August 2025 at the SLAVF Headquarters.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, formally conferred the rank of Major General upon the newly promoted Senior Officers during a ceremony held on 14 August 2025 at the Army Headquarters.

Colonel Keith Miles, the newly appointed Defence Adviser to Sri Lanka & Maldives, at the British High Commission in Sri Lanka, paid a courtesy call on Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army on 14 August 2025 at the Army Headquarters.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, accompanied by Mrs. Swendrini Dissanayake, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, visited Abhimansala II in Kamburupitiya, a wellness centre dedicated to the care of differently-abled war heroes to inquire into the well-being of its resident inmates on 13 August 2025.

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Defence and the instructions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the first phase of the cleaning project at the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport surrounding area was successfully completed under the supervision of the Chief Field Engineer, Brigadier C.D. Wickramanayake WWV RSP ndc.

The Directorate of Welfare of the Sri Lanka Army conducted a special donation programme on 12 August 2025 to provide laptops to Government university students who are children of serving Army personnel. The initiative targeted first-year undergraduates who gained university admission following their successful completion of the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination - 2023.
