Army Moments

Due to adverse weather conditions and strong winds, Rajawaka Madya Maha Vidyalaya in Balangoda sustained damage to its buildings and surrounding areas. In response, the troops of the 18th Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard (18 SLNG) supported the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), Balangoda, in removing fallen trees and cleaning the school premises on 12 June 2025.


The troops of 59 Infantry Division, under the guidance of Major General D.R.N Hettiarachchi RWP RSP USP, the General Officer Commanding of 59 Infantry Division, conducted a Seeni Sambal buns and coriander drinks Dansala on 09 June 2025 in line with the annual holy festival at Kannagi Amman Kovil in Wattappalai.


The troops of 54 Infantry Division, along with its under command Brigades and Units, conducted the Mannar Poson Zone 2025 from 10 to 12 June 2025 near Thaleadi Junction, under the supervision of Major General A.M.C.P Wijayaratne RWP RSP nps psc, General Officer Commanding of 54 Infantry Division.


The troops of the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), along with the members of the Dambulla Economic Centre, conducted a Rice Dansela under the guidance of Major General P.R. Pathiravithana USAWC psc, the Commander, Security Forces - East and Colonel of the Regiment of SLNG, on 10 June 2025 at the Dambulla Economic Centre premises.


In line with Poson Poya Day, the Regimental Centre of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) organised a Manioc Dansala on 10 June 2025 at the Rangiri Dambulu Rajamaha Viharaya premises, under the guidance of Major General A.H.A.D Ariyasena RWP RSP USP psc ptsc, Colonel of the Regiment, MIR.


The Sri Lanka Army Buddhist Association, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and the Sri Lanka National Guard, celebrated Poson Poya Day by organising a ‘Seela Samadi’ programme at Sri Maha Bodhirajaramaya, Panagoda, on 10 June 2025 under the guidance of Major General D.K.S.K Dolage USP nps psc, Commandant of SLAVF.


The Commando Brigade, in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Ragama Teaching Hospital, organised a blood donation campaign at the Commando Brigade premises on 11 June 2025, under the guidance of Brigadier K.V.I.L Jayaweera USP, Commander of the Commando Brigade, to invoke blessings on the war heroes who laid down their lives during the Humanitarian Operation in Sri Lanka.
