The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers bade farewell to Major General T.C Peiris RSP USP on 29 May 2025, marking the end of his distinguished military career spanning over 34 years.

Brigadier K.A.D.C.R Kannangara RSP ndc officially assumed office as the 17th Director of Sports on 29 May 2025 during a formal ceremony at the Directorate of Sports, Army Cantonment, Panagoda.

In line with the 17th Anniversary of the 61 Infantry Division, the troops of the Division conducted a special social service programme for 50 special needs residents of the Sambodhi Children’s and Elderly Home in Galle on 27 and 28 May 2025, under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, Major General K.T.P De Silva RSP ndu psc.

Brigadier A.M.R. Abeysinghe ndc assumed duties as the 16th Provost Marshal of the Sri Lanka Army during a brief ceremony held at the Directorate of Provost, Army Headquarters, on 29 May 2025.

In parallel with the National War Heroes’ Memorial Day, the Central Province commemorated the War Heroes on 29 May 2025 at the War Heroes’ Memorial in Mailapitiya.

Brigadier Y.M.S.C.B Jayathilake RSP USP assumed duties as the Commandant of Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) during a brief ceremony held at the IPSOTSL on Thursday 15th May 2025.

The Marksmanship and Sniper Training School (MSTS) in Diyatalawa bade farewell to Brigadier R.P. Munipura RWP RSP, the outgoing Commandant of MSTS, during a simple occasion on 07 May 2025.

Major General T.N Majeed RSP USP ndc Isc, Director General Research Concept and Doctrine of Army Headquarters, graced the Annual Sports Meet of Zahira College, Gampola as the Chief Guest on 23 April 2025.

As a proud alumnus, he distributed trophies and certificates to winners and highlighted the value of sports in building discipline, teamwork and resilience. Reflecting on his school memories, he encouraged students to uphold these values for future success. The school extended appreciation for his inspirational presence and support.

The Security Forces (East), in collaboration with Wildlife and Civil Organisations, conducted a survey on 2nd January 2025 aimed at mitigating damage caused by wild elephants to paddy fields and safeguarding local communities.

As part of the Clean Sri Lanka programme, the government launched a large-scale beach cleaning initiative covering the coastal stretch from Bentota to Goviapana under the theme “Beautiful Island, Smiling People” on 12th January 2025 in Galle, under the patronage of Honorable Mr. Nalin Hewage, the Deputy Minister of Vocational Education and Galle District Member of Parliament.
