Army Moments

Based on information received by the Military Intelligence Corps, six individuals were taken into custody by the Navy along with approximately 250 kilograms of cocaine being smuggled into the country via the multi-day voyage vessel Priyanka-6 (IMULA-A-1108GLE) in the southern seas. The suspects and the seized drugs were brought to the Dikkowita Harbour. Further legal proceedings are being carried out by the Narcotics Bureau.


In parallel with the forthcoming Logistics Day 2026, organized by the Department of Management and Finance of the Faculty of Management, Social Sciences and Humanities at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, an interview with the senior logistics leadership of the Sri Lanka Army was conducted for publication in the Logistics Time Magazine on 12 March 2026 at the Conference Hall of the Quartermaster General’s (QMG) Branch.


Troops of the 8th Battalion, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (8 SLSR), under instructions from the 572 Infantry Brigade, successfully contained a wildfire that broke out in Nilwakka, Puwakdeniya, Kegalle on 12 March 2026.


In accordance with the concept of the Commander of the Army and under the supervision of the Directorate of Veterans’ Affairs and Rehabilitation, war heroes at the Ranaviru Sevana Rehabilitation Centre, Mihindu Seth Medura and Abhimansala 1, 2, and 3 Wellness Resorts participated in a naval excursion on 04 March 2026 from the Galle Southern Naval Base for a whale-watching tour aboard the Sri Lanka Navy vessel “Lanka Devi”, with the approval of the Commander of the Navy.
