Army Moments

Swift and precise actions based on credible information provided by the Sri Lanka Army Intelligence has led to two major joint operations resulting in the seizure of heroin and wallapatta (Gyrinops walla), as well as the arrest of several suspects involved in illegal trafficking activities. The operations were conducted on 6 and 8 November 2025 in the Southern Province.

The Gajaba Regiment (GR) held a felicitation ceremony on 03 November 2025 at the “Home of Gajaba” to honour Infantryman R.W.V. Piyathissa, who achieved a Serandib World Record in line with 76th Army Anniversary.

Brigadier D.C.J.W. Jayasekara (Retd) passed away on 01 November 2025 after a brief illness at the Army Base Hospital, Narahenpita. He was 60 years old at the time of his demise.

Security Force Headquarters (East) commemorated its 22nd Anniversary on 31 October 2025 at the Headquarters premises in Welikanda.

Brigadier B.A.P. Liyanage RWP RSP USP assumed duties as Director of the Directorate of Veteran Affairs and Rehabilitation at the Army Headquarters on 30 October 2025.

The Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) commemorated its 76th Anniversary on 30 October 2025 at the Regimental Centre, Panagoda.

Colonel R.A.N.P. Ranaveera (Retd) passed away on 29 October 2025 after a brief illness at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital. He was 55 years old at the time of his demise.
