SLEME Saves Millions through In-House Biomedical Equipment Repairs

The Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) continue to ensure the operational readiness of the Army by maintaining and innovating biomedical equipment across the service.

Troops of the Biomedical Independent Workshop carried out major repairs on biomedical equipment using spare parts worth approximately Rs. 1.5 million, compared to local estimates of nearly Rs. 10 million. The troops’ voluntary and self-motivated efforts, highlighting exceptional professional competence, resulted in substantial public fund savings amid the country’s economic challenges.

The Director of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (DEME) recognised their contribution by awarding certificates of appreciation for their exemplary service and dedication to the Sri Lanka Army.
