Major General H.M.G.E. Herath RSP USP ndu psc assumed office as the 30th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 55 Infantry Division at its headquarters in Kilinochchi on 02 January 2026.
Upon arrival he was welcomed by Brigade Commanders and Staff Officers. Thereafter he was accorded a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour by the troops of 6th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
Later on, he planted a mango sapling at the headquarters premises, followed by a troop address and an All Ranks tea.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
