India's Army Chief Arrives in Sri Lanka on Goodwill Tour

Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army General Dalbir Singh PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, heralding a new era of goodwill, understanding and military co-operation, arrives in Sri Lanka Monday (27) afternoon, together with a five-member delegation at the invitation of his Sri Lanka’s counterpart, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva.

During the five-day long stay, General Dalbir Singh is expected to pay courtesy calls on HE the President Maithripala Sirisena, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Hon. Prime Minister, Hon. State Minister of Defence, Secretary to Ministry of Defence, High Commissioner of India, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Navy and Air Force and visit several military establishments, Kandy, Galle and Anuradhapura provinces as parts of his itinerary in the island.

His delegation comprises Mrs Namitha Suhag, the spouse of General Dalbir Singh, Major General Y.K Joshi, General Officer Commanding, 3 Infantry Division, Brigadier Gopal Gurung, Military Assistant to the Indian Chief of Army Staff, Colonel Amitabh Jha, Director Military Intelligence and Captain N.K Saraswat, aide-de-camp (ADC) to the visiting Indian Commander.

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army, accompanied by Mrs Nayana De Silva, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit, will receive the visiting India’s Army Chief General Dalbir Singh and his spouse, Mrs Namitha Suhag, together with his delegation to a red carpet welcome at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport.

On Monday (27) afternoon General Dalbir Singh, in less than three hours of his arrival in Sri Lanka, is to be honoured at the Army Headquarters in a Guard Turnout and a special Guard of Honour salute before he calls on the Commander of the Army at the Commander’s office for formal exchange of views. The Army Seva Vanitha Unit has meanwhile organized a separate reception to Mrs Namitha Suhag during her stay in Sri Lanka. (Ends)
