'Those Involving in Undisciplined Acts will be Expelled from the Army' - Commander

‘You must be the most disciplined person in the whole of the country and should never commit any undisciplined act since everything in the Army depends on strict discipline. Those engaged in most serious disciplinary violations will be expelled from the Army, and all attempts should be made to lead others in the correct path, if not ensure that they are transferred out to serve another Regiment because no soldier with indiscipline is supposed to be in the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP),’ so said Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army when he met all ranks in the SLCMP Headquarters at Narahenpita Thursday (29) morning during a formal visit to the Headquarters.

‘First of all you must be well-disciplined and a soldier with such great level of discipline receives recognition in society and the SLCMP in that direction contributes very much to the Army and the country in general. Secretary Defence and Urban Development is planning a scheme to avoid complexity in soldiering by introducing novel approaches in the future,’ Lieutenant General Ratnayake added, speaking to all ranks at the SLCMP Headquarters.

In a similar vein, the Commander asked SLCMP officers to accumulate professional qualifications as much as possible and reach high standards. Do not give up learning process because it is the knowledge that drives you to take correct decisions, he pointed out. ‘Take me as a model, I followed so many study courses during my career and now I am reading for a PhD, despite my heavy workload. Once you get disciplined it would be easy to deliver, strike a balance and perform exceptionally well in any given situation,’ he elaborated.

Soon after the arrival of the Commander of the Army at the premises, a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour greeted him after he was warmly welcomed. A group photo with all ranks serving the SLCMP Headquarters afterwards symbolized the significance attached to the Commander’s visit to the place by the SLCMP.

Major General E.K.J.K Wijesiri, Colonel Commandant, SLCMP and Provost Marshal extended a warm welcome before the Commander rose to address the troops and planted a tree sapling in the complex. A dinner night with family members culminates the day’s programme.
