Kayts Students Warmly Received at Temple Trees

A group of students from the Jaffna Velanai Central College in Kayts recently had the rare opportunity of visiting HE, the President’s official residence, Temple Trees at Colombo 03 on the sidelines of an educational tour to the South.
 
The tour, organized by the 17th Battalion Gemunu Watch (17 GW) serving Kayts, had 126 students, 13 teachers and 7 parents and covered many places of religious, social and cultural interests to tourists.

This three-day education tour, organized as one more civil-oriented project of the Jaffna Civil Affairs Office was supported by the 17 GW Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Senaka Premawansa and his staff officers. Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna had given his blessings to the project.

Those visiting students were treated to lunch during their stopover at Temple Trees and awarded special gift parcels as tokens of memory.     

Meals and overnight accommodation for the group were arranged by the Army at Panagoda Sri Bodhirajaramaya temple on the directions given by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.
