School accessories, domestic requirements, medical aids and other essentials to the value of Rs 1 million were recently donated for distribution among students and civilians, living in 213 Brigade area under the Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni (SFHQ-W).
Colombo Ocean City 306 – B 2 Lion Club sponsored the entire cost of the donation, following initiatives, taken by 213 Brigade Commander, Colonel K Prematillake. In addition, a team of doctors conducted a medical clinic on the same occasion of the distribution with a view to providing them with necessary medicine and consultations.
The stock of essentials contained school uniforms (Nos 525), exercise books (Nos 300), bed sheets (Nos 500), sleeping mats (Nos 500), sarees (Nos 300), sarongs (Nos 200), spectacles (Nos 500), wheelchairs (Nos 15) and crutches (Nos 15). Hundreds of civilians flocked the venue to receive those benefits after civilians were alerted to the occasion by the troops and other service organizations in the area.
The distribution ceremony took place at the Manik Farm, Arvitottam Shivanatha Vidyalaya with the participation of the visiting President, Lions Club, District Secretary for Vavuniya, 213 Brigade Commander, Senior Officers and several other invitees.
