A SERIES OF LECTURES on History and Psychology were conducted at Jaffna Security Forces Headquarters Indoor Stadium for 4 days commencing 12th October for the benefit of Officers and Other Ranks (ORs) serving the peninsula.
Lectures on history for Officers and ORs were conducted by Puravidya Chackrawarthi Ven Ellawala Medhananda Thero (MP) on 12th and 13th October 2009. The lectures focused on self sufficiency in ancient times, old irrigation and other marvelous constructions, social order, human habitations, kingdoms and their rulers, fall of those kingdoms due to enemy attacks and how the country was united defeating the enemies.
Lectures on Psychology organized to boost the morale of Officers and ORs were conducted on 14th and 15th October 2009 by Psychiatry consultant Dr. Devika Surangani Kolambage at the same venue. The lectures were based on identification of problems faced by people, resolution of those problems, tolerance to the problems without degrading mental capacity to save valuable lives and organization of the daily work to achieve success in life were explained.
Those lectures were organized under the guidance of Commander Security Forces – Jaffna Major General L B R Mark and about 250 officers and 500 ORs from all units in Jaffna participated in them. Lectures were given mementos to in appreciation of those lectures.
