NORTH & EAST: ARMY TROOPS during their search and clear operations in the general areas of CHEKKADIPILAVU, AKKARAYANKULAM, PUTHUKKUDDIYIRUPPU, SUGANDIPURAM and MULLIYAVELLI recovered three suicide jackets each weighing about 3kg, four T-56 mark-II weapons, eleven claymore mines, thirty-six anti personnel mines, seven Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), seventy-five rounds of 12.7 ammunition, one T-56 weapon, one part of M-16 weapon, seventeen 40 mm grenades, one Recoil-less (RCL) round, two 60 mm mortar bombs and three hand grenades on Saturday (17).
Meanwhile, troops in TRINCOMALEE during a search operation in KADDARAVIKULAM recovered fifteen T-56 magazines, one T-81 magazine, one Light machine Gun (LMG) drum, one Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) drum, one Light machine Gun (LMG) link, five belt orders, two pouches and one hand grenade on Saturday (17).

On the same day (17), Police arrested a suspect in UPPUVELLI Police area, TRINCOMALEE with a hand grenade and in a subsequent search recovered one satellite phone, one phone charger, six pen torch batteries, one pen torch battery charger, one antenna, one remote controller and one oil bottle.
