  • Diyatalawa Army Base Hospital Gets New Women's Ward


    The newly constructed Women’s Ward at the Army Base Hospital in Diyatalawa was opened by Major General Mano Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) on Wednesday (28). The Women’s Ward was constructed by SFHQ-C troops to fulfill a long-felt need at Diyatalawa Army Base Hospital on the instructions of Major General Perera. Major General Perera as a taken of memory planted Iron Wood sapling in the premises before the day’s programme followed with an all rank tea table.
  • The Figure Crosses 111,512

    MULLAITTIVU: THE number of civilians that were rescued by the Army from LTTE grip in PUTHUMATTALAN “No Fire Zone” by Sunday (26) evening rose to 111,512. The number of escapees after 20th April has thus reached this figure by Sunday (26) evening at about 6.00 p.m.

    Troops of the Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C), alert to recurrent threat of landslides as advised by authorities took steps to evacuate 415 civilians of 124 families to safer places, including the Ganeshan Tamil School, Koslanda on Thursday (13).   • Indian-American Journalist Thrown Out of Pro-LTTE Meeting

    New York, Nov 21, (PTI): A veteran Indian-American journalist was reportedly thrown out of a pro-LTTE meeting held in New Jersey by the oragnisers, who called him ‘’an agent of Government of India and Sri Lanka.’’ Dr Prakash M Swamy, a senior journalist of New York and a United Nations accredited correspondent, was allegedly manhandled and pushed out of the venue yesterday after being invited to cover the event by the organisers, Association of Tamils of Sri Lanka in the USA and Ilankai Tamil Sangam.

    An all-night Pirith chanting ceremony at Panagoda Sri Bodhi Rajaramaya (Army temple) Friday (5) evening, led by Ven Dr Ittepaane Sri Dhammalankara Anunayaka Thero of Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha, invoked blessings on the country, HE the President and forthcoming Sri Lanka Army’s 63rd Anniversary and Army Day (October 10).

    Troops serving the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) and the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), showing the highest respect and regard to the annual Thaipongal day alias Festival of Harvest (Jan 14) of Hindu devotees, made separate arrangements at Kilinochchi Kandaswamy Hindu Kovil and Elephant Pass, the gateway to the Jaffna peninsula.
  • SFHQ-MLT Celebrates New Year


    Officers, other rankers and civil employees of the Security Forces Headquarters Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) held a festival to mark the New Year 2015 on Friday (10). This was organized on the directions of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT. Commander, SFHQ-MLT distributed gift parcels to the civil employees after the tea party.
