In order to further improve knowledge on internal security arrangements, the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) organized a valuable two-day workshop during 24 -25 April for 54 Officers in the area on the topic "Military in Internal Security Operations" (MISO).
The workshop aimed at receiving the expertise of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for advancement of internal security arrangements was initiated under the guidance of Major General C.D Ranasinghe RWP RSP, Commander, SF- W on the instructions of the Directorate of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law at the Army Headquarters.
Lectures for the two-day workshop were delivered by Mr Albert Schoneveld, ICRC FAS Regional Delegate, Ms Verena Neundtr, ICRC PGE Regional Delegate, Mr Channa Jayawardena, ICRC FAS Delegate of ICRC Colombo, and Mr Alexander Burov, Head of Office at Vavuniya.
The session was blended with lectures, case studies, and exercises. Towards the end of the workshop, Brigadier S.P.G Gamage RWP RSP USP, Brigadier General Staff of SF- W gave away special tokens of appreciation to the representatives of the ICRC delegation.
