    A week-long workshop on roles and tasks of unit commanders and measures, adopted to promote reconciliation and different other matters of concern under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) got underway recently at Ambakamam Training School.   • Troops Make Religious Place Accessible


    Soldiers of 5th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) as part of their training exercises provided labour to clean up Periyapachchilaipallai Ganesh Kovil and Bahirawa Devalaya in the area. On Friday (7) these soldiers cleaned up the premises and made the sacred places easily accessible for religious observances. On the following day too, these soldiers continued their support since the heap of garbage around the area was relatively very big.
  • Lecture on Welfare Educates Army Personnel


    A team of officers from Directorate of Welfare in the Army Headquarters conducted a lecture on services and importance of the Army welfare wing at the Security Force Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on Tuesday (18). More than 300 officers and other ranks assembled there to listen to the lecture since it focused on loan schemes, qualifications for loans and repayment of loans, etc.
  • Troops Clean up Hospital Premises


    Troops serving 221 and 222 Brigades of 22 Division under the Security Force Headquarters, East (SFHQ-E) organized a mammoth Shramadana campaign to clean Ichchalanpattu hospital and Sunandarama temple in 22 Division area during two days. (June 15-16) Ichchalanpattu hospital staff joined hands together with Army troops to conduct the campaign.
  • Troops Share Sorrow with Ex-combatant Over Mother's Death


    2 Battalion Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops, now based in Trincomalee serving the 221 Brigade of 22 Division recently volunteered to assist the funeral arrangements of the mother of a rehabilitated ex-combatant at Konashapuri. Troops provided transport to carry the coffin and meals throughout two days with a view to helping the bereaved family. The deceased, Mrs Selvam was the mother of Mr Vijayarasa Selvam, a former LTTE cadre who had received rehabilitation.

  • Commander Receives Salute From His Own Regiment


    In conformity with Army traditions, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) regimental troops saluted their Colonel Commandant, General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army during a Guard of Honour this morning (21) at SLAC Regimental Headquarters, Modera, Colombo 15. General Jagath Jayasuriya received this salute on account of his recent promotion to the rank of General.
