Soldier Receives House from MOD Seva Vanitha Unit


Private D.A. Shantha Amaratunga of the Sri Lanka Army's 8th Engineering Service Regiment (8 ESR) received a newly constructed house worth of 4 million from the Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit at a function held at Attampitiya, Sinna Maligathanna, Bandarawela yesterday (18th June).

Chairperson of the MOD Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa ceremonially handed over the keys to Private Amaratunga at the function.

Labour and technical support for this generous gesture had been provided by the Sri Lanka Navy's Civil Engineering Department under the guidance of the Director General Civil Engineering.

The Seva Vanitha Unit has launched a number of projects to uplift the living standards and welfare of the service personnel and their families. A large number of such families have benefitted through various welfare measures accomplished countrywide.

Vice-President of the MOD Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Indu Rathnayake, Brigade Commander 112 Brigade (Diyathalawa) Brig. GWDK Jayathilake, Ministry Officials and Senior Military Officials were present at the event.    (Courtesy: MoD)
