2 Battalion Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops, now based in Trincomalee serving the 221 Brigade of 22 Division recently volunteered to assist the funeral arrangements of the mother of a rehabilitated ex-combatant at Konashapuri.
Troops provided transport to carry the coffin and meals throughout two days with a view to helping the bereaved family. The deceased, Mrs Selvam was the mother of Mr Vijayarasa Selvam, a former LTTE cadre who had received rehabilitation.
Family members publicly thanked the Army for assistance and told the troops that they were relieved to receive such assistance from the Army at their hour of grief.
