  • President Enshrines Treasure in 'Sandahiru Maha Seya'


    Enshrinement of treasure and relics in the base ring of the 'Sandahiru Maha Seya' (Triumphant Pagoda), under construction at Mahamevunauyana, Anuradhapura, on the initiatives of the Secretary Defence and Urban Development, took place on Poson Full Moon Poya Day, Thursday (12) morning, a day of utmost importance to the Nation with the arrival of Ven Mihindu Thero in Sri Lanka centuries ago.
  • Pakistan Army Chief to Attend Passing out Parade at Diyatalawa


    The Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan General Raheel Sharif with his spouse will arrive in Sri Lanka on Thursday (19) for a 4-day visit. During his stay in Sri Lanka he will attend the Passing out Parade (PoP) at Diyatalawa and meet HE the President, Secretary, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, Commander of the Navy, Commander of the Air Force and visit several other places.

  • New SFHQ-West Commander Makes Formal Visit to His 141 Brigade


    Troops of the 141 Brigade at Boossa saluted the new Commander, Security Force Headquarters-West (SFHQ-West) Major General U.A.B Medawela when he formally visited the Brigade Headquarters on Monday (9) after assumption of his office. He was received by 141 Brigade Commander and ushered to receive the Guard Turn Out in accordance with military traditions as the first item of the agenda. Afterwards, Major General Medawela was introduced to the officers who were present at the occasion, including the 14 Division General Officer Commanding.
  • Alampil Church Feast Given Army Support


    Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) extended its fullest cooperation to the conduct of the annual feast of the historic St Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church at Alampil, Mullaittivu on Thursday (12).   • More Community Projects Launched by 51 Division


    Nearly 85 soldiers serving the 513 Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) troops joined hands together with civilians in the area and cleaned up both sideways of the road from Mavankallady to Thelippalai on Thursday (12) to coincide with the Poson Full Moon Poya day. More than 40 villagers joined the Shramadana campaign and completed the project that covers about 5 Km.
  • UN Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs Shares Views with Wanni Commander


    Ms. Agnes Asekenye-Oonyu, Head. of office, Sri Lanka UN office for the coordination of Humanitarian Affairs during a visit to the Wanni recently met Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W). The talks centred on "Joint Needs Assessment Survey on Returnees" in the Northem Province.   • SFHQ Jaffna and Wanni Troops Commemorate Poson Festival

    Troops serving the 51, 52 and 55 Divisions of the Security Force Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J) and 621 Brigade of Security Force Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) organized different commemorative programmes, on account of the Poson festival at their respective areas on Poson Full Moon Poya Day Thursday (12). 

  • Civilians Given Free Meals & Refreshments at Mullaittivu


    Troops serving the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) on account of Poson organized a Bodhi Pooja meritorious act at SFHQ-MLT Muladeepa temple and a series of Dansel (free eating houses) through Divisions, Brigades and different Units. Ven. Rankothgama Dhammathillaka Thero of Ethawetunawewa Temple conducted the Boodhi Pooja at Muladeepa Temple.
     
  • More Humanitarian Projects Undertaken in the East


    Distribution of books, artificial limbs, distribution of Thunder flashes for elephant chasing Shramadhana Campaigns, Dengue awareness progammes humanitarian assistance  for public festivals are some of the projects that had been carried out in different Divisions, Brigades and Units working under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E). 
     
     
  • SFHQ East Marks Poson Festival


    Security Forces Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) conducted several religious events, including  a Silobserving campaign, Dhamma Discussions, Alms Giving and a Bodhi Pooja pinkam on account ofposon  at their Headquarters in Welikanda on Poson day (12). Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E together with all ranks participated in the Posonday programme.
