Troops serving the 51, 52 and 55 Divisions of the Security Force Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J) and 621 Brigade of Security Force Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) organized different commemorative programmes, on account of the Poson festival at their respective areas on Poson Full Moon Poya Day Thursday (12).
51, 52 and 55 Divisions provided meals to member of the general public at Sri Naga Vihara and Nunavil in Iyakkachchi area. In the meantime, Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J) attended the ‘Dansela’ (free eating house) organized by the 51 Division and the 55 Division. Huge crowds enjoyed lunch and dinner, served there.
On the guidance of Colonel I.H.M.N.N Herath, Commander, 621 Brigade, troops of the 621 Brigade organized several events to mark the Poson festival including a rice ‘Dansela’ and display of Poson lanterns. Around 5000 people participated in the events from adjacent villages such as Gajabapura, Kalyanipura, Monarawewa, Ehetugaswewa, Nikawewa, Sampathnuwara, Welioya, Padawiya, Parakramapura, Janakapura and Helambawewa.
Brigadier K.G.D Perera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division graced the occasion as the chief guest and many senior officers and other rankers were associated with the occasion.
