Commander shares views with soldiers during his visit to the east

Soldiers of the Sri Lanka Army, deployed in areas under 23 Division Headquarters in Minneriya received a surprise audience with their Commander, Lieutenant General S.H.S Kottegoda when the Army Commander on Friday (23) went there with a view to addressing any issues or grievances that are associated with their performance of duties.

Accompanied by Senior Army Officers, Commander first visited the 23 Division Minneriya Headquarters and spoke to a cross-section of the Officers and Other Ranks at the venue after delivering a brief address.

Lieutenant General S.H.S Kottegoda exchanged views on matters of concern with those soldiers and underlined the importance of maintaining the status quo and ongoing cease-fire agreement. He had also emphasized the need to take necessary precautions when performing duties.

His next stop was Sittandy Brigade in Batticaloa where he met soldiers of different ranks performing various duties. Lieutenant General Kottegoda shared his thoughts with them and particularly inquired into their practical problems, if any and other welfare measures being adopted by the Army for them. His fatherly approach, giving a patient hearing to the soldiers transformed his visit to that of a forum where soldiers aired out their concerns in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere.

As the next leg of his visit, Commander arrived at the Welikanda camp and spoke to hundreds of soldiers and inquired into their grievances, if any. He also gave a patient hearing and shared views with them over matters of concern to them.
