Security Force Headquarters - West marked its 13th anniversary with a series of commemorative events on 15 November 2025.
Major General A.M.A Abeywardana WWV RWP RSP ndc assumed duties as the 26th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch on 23 October 2025 at the Regimental Centre, Kuruwita. He was accorded a guard turnout and a guard of honour. He later paid tribute at the fallen war heroes’ monument, attended an all-ranks tea and addressed the troops.

A sudden fire broke out at an electrical equipment shop located within a building owned by the Ambalangoda Pradeshiya Sabha was successfully brought under control on 09 November 2025 through the prompt response of 573 Infantry Brigade troops operating under the 61 Infantry Division and Security Forces (West).The fire, which started had spread to 12 nearby shops.
