Lance Corporal K.K.P.K. Rathnayaka of the 22nd Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, serving under the Directorate of Media and Psychological Operations of the Sri Lanka Army, took steps to return a lost wallet containing Rs. 80,000.00 and several valuable documents to its rightful owner, a Myanmar Buddhist monk, on 07 April 2026 at the Godagama Purana Viharaya. The soldier had discovered the wallet on a bus travelling from Pettah to Avissawella.
The owner of the wallet, Ven. Nyano, a Myanmar national, had misplaced it while travelling on a bus on 06 April 2026. Upon finding the wallet, the soldier immediately informed Ven. Kotigala Nandaratana Nayaka Thero, the Chief Incumbent of the Godagama Purana Viharaya. Following the Thero’s coordination, Ven. Nyano was contacted and arrangements were made to hand over his wallet.
The Myanmar monk and the Chief Incumbent highly appreciated the soldier’s honesty and discipline.
