  • Central Troops Engage in Social Service Projects

    Troops of the Security Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) carried out several welfare projects for the well-being of soldiers and civilians in the past week.  Troops of the 122 Brigade of the Security Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) on Thursday (27) gave their contribution to the blood donation campaign, organized by Koonwalana Grama Niladari Welfare Association and the Forest Conservation Officers’ Welfare Association, Thissamaharama.
  • Record 2838 Civilians Escape into Government Held Area

    MULLAITTIVU: A RECORD two thousand eight hundred and thirty eight besieged civilians in the PUTHUMATHALAN “No Fire Zone” exited from the grip of LTTE terrorism and escaped into troop-held areas in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU Saturday (18) by about 7.30 in the evening as this report was pasted. Ground troops in PUTHUKKUDIYIRUPPU confirmed a huge exodus of people is on the way as the day was coming to an end on Saturday (18).... 

  • Kandy Troops Illuminate Main Road for Vesak

    A string of decorative Vesak lanterns, organized by 11 Division Headquarters in Kandy, Kundasale illuminated William Gopallawa main road from Getambe Junction up to Kandy Railway Station Junction during May 5-6. Troops serving 11 Division areas prepared those colourful lanterns on directions given by Brigadier K. Gunawardena, General Officer Commanding, 11 Division Headquarters.

    Totally blind Lance Corporal Anjana Karunasiri of 8 Gajaba Regiment (8 GR) on Friday (12), began to live together with Nirasha Dulakshi of Rathnayakapura, Nikaweratiya in wedded bliss, in front of a distinguished gathering of well-wishers, including none other than the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, himself. War Hero, Lance Corporal Karunasiri as the final battle for peace was reaching its climax, received injuries in an LTTE mortar attack on 14th March 2009.....
  • UNHCR Country Rep & ICRC Delegation Call at Mullaittivu Commander

    Deputy Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mr David Quesne met Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) at the Commander’s office at SFHQ-MLT on Tuesday (21). During Mr Quesene’s first meeting with the new SFHQ-MLT Commander, both of them discussed present ICRC roles and future programmes.

  • Army Daily Mail Dispatch To Go Digital

    Sri Lanka Army, making drastic changes to its traditional Daily Mail Dispatch Service, is to go digital, beginning from April 1, 2015, in all island-wide Army formations where Army data network facilities are available, following instructions given by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva to the Chief Signal Officer of the Army and the Directorate of Information Technology.
