  • SFHQ-KLN Opens Its New Badminton Hall


    A new badminton hall that would help promote sports skills of officers and other ranks was recently opened at the Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN). Major General Nandana Udawatte, Commander, SFHQ-KLN ceremonially opened the new hall amidst a gathering of officers and other ranks.
     
  • Friendly Exchange of Views to Resolve Issues

     
    Community leaders including several Hindu priests and leading citizens in the Eastern region recently, met Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters, East (SFHQ-E) and shared views on social, religious and other economic issues at the invitation of the former on Saturday (10). The friendly exchange of views culminated with a lunch treat. The occasion took place at the SFHQ-E premises at Welikanda.
  • Unmatched Roles of War Heroes Held in Esteem Providing Technically Devised New Three-Wheelers


    The unmatched and priceless commitment of tri-service War Heroes who had sacrificed their legs and limbs in defence of the motherland while fighting separatist terrorists were held in high esteem and their contribution revered once again when the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Ranaviru Seva Authority (RSA) jointly provided one more consignment of 180 specially devised three-wheelers to War Heroes during a ceremony at MoD grounds Friday (18) morning.

  • LTTE Kills Two Soldiers during Two-Day Humanitarian Pause

    MULLAITTIVU: BELITTLING the forty eight-hour humanitarian pause declared by His Excellency the President as Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces during Sinahala and Hindu New Year festival, LTTE snipers in the “No Fire Zone” fired and killed one more soldier in VADUKKAI area on the New Year day (14) morning. His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces Mahinda Rajapaksa had instructed Security Forces to refrain from offensive operations against the LTTE on the 13th and 14th. However, hours after it was declared, LTTE sniped and killed one soldier serving in a distant defensive position in PUTHUKUDIYIRUPPU on Monday (13) morning. One more soldier sustained injuries due to LTTE artillery fire directed from the “No Fire Zone”. (See Situation Report on 13th April 2009).

  • Those who Obstructed War Victory at Work Again'

    THOSE who obstructed the war victory are trying to reverse the same victory achieved by the Government, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said at a special ceremony titled ‘the story behind the great victory today and tomorrow’ held at the Katugastota Buddhist Centre Hall, Kandy Saturday. Nearly 30,000 soldiers and policemen were killed and another 20,000 became disabled while another 90,000 civilians too were killed during the war. The economy of the country too was destroyed. The President finished the war in just four years which others said was invincible.

  • SVAB's 75th New House Under '150 House Construction Project' Vested in War Hero Family

     
    Two more new houses, built by the funds of the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) under the SVAB’s ongoing ‘150 House Construction Project’ in appreciation of the indelible service of the War Heroes, were vested in Ranaviru families during separate ceremonies at Hikkaduwa and Elpitiya on Wednesday (20). These two new houses were the 74th and 75th that were completed under the SVAB’s ongoing ‘150 House Construction Project’.
  • Seva Vanitha Pre-Schools Conduct their Annual Concerts

    SEVA Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) conducts seven pre-schools across the island and nearly 600 small children from Army families continue to receive primary education. With a view to promoting their born talents and aesthetic skills, the SVAB annually organizes variety concerts in each pre-school for kids learning there. Concerts for the year 2009 were organized on 7th, 9th and 10th August in Colombo, Kandy and Diyatalawa.
