  • End to Terrorism in SL Commendable- Vietnam

    DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER and Foreign Minister of Vietnam, Pham Gia Khiem, remarked “ Sri Lanka’s achievement in bringing an end to terrorism was commendable, and it was time that the country took forward  the reconciliation process with confidence and resolve” when Foreign Minister Bogollagama met him at Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.   • Troops Continuing Searches Uncover One More LTTE Thermo Baric Rocket

    NORTH, WANNI & EAST: ARMY troops expanding their search and clear operations further in SARASALE, ECHCHANKULAM, and AMPAKAMAM areas, Wednesday (15) recovered one bomb, nine electric detonators, two anti personnel mines, two mini Uzi-gun magazines, one belt order, one hundred and twenty-two rounds of 9 mm ammunition, one combat kit, three maps, one Olive Green uniform, hidden in those areas by LTTE terrorists.   • Ranaviru Felicitation Ceremony in Maliyadeva Vidyalaya

    Kurunegala Maliyadeva Vidyalaya under the patronage of its Old Boys' Association is making arrangements to hold a 'Ranaviru Felicitation Ceremony, at the college on July 17 and the chief guest on this occasion will be the Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Mrs. Rajapaksa.   • Villagers Enjoy Cooking Workshop

    VAKANERI village in Batticaloa that comes under 231 Brigade with assistance of the Japanese Jen Organization received a training in nutritious cooking during a workshop conducted in the community hall at Vakaneri. Many housewives in the village enthusiastically joined the workshop very well coordinated by the Army in the area. The villagers as well as the representatives from the NGO appreciated the welfare and coordination, organized by the Army.

  • Another LTTE Submersible Emerges from Vellamullivaikkal Sea

    MULLAITTIVU: ONE more submersible used by the LTTE was found from the seas about        500 m off the VELLAMULLIVAIKKAL beach in MULLAITTIVU on Saturday (18) evening. Based on information provided by an informant to intelligence officials of the 56 Division in VAVUNIYA with coordination of the Task Force-8 based in PUTHUKIUDIYIRUPPU area, the submersible was found and brought ashore with the help of Army divers.

  • Further Investigations on Recovered LTTE Submersible Reveal More Information

    WANNI: FURTHER investigations conducted into the LTTE submersible recovered on Saturday (18) revealed more technical information of the under water equipment by Sunday (19) afternoon. This 25 m long, 4 feet wide and 3 feet high LTTE submersible has been equipped with a Global Positioning System (GPS) fixed onboard and powered by a four cylinder diesel engine fitted in it.

  • New Commander Calls on Mahanayaka & Visits Dalada Maligawa

  • Three Dismantled Paddle Guns (ZPU-4) Unearthed

    BATTICALOA :  FOLLOWING information provided by an informant, a combined search and clear operation was conducted by the VAVUNIYA Police and Army troops of the 232 Brigade in the general area of THARAVIKULAM in THOPPIGALA on Sunday (19). During the search, Army troops and Police recovered three dismantled paddle guns (ZPU-4) buried in the jungle area. The parts of the three weapons including drums with links had been greased and wrapped in polythene when they were unearthed.
