NORTH, WANNI & EAST: ARMY troops expanding their search and clear operations further in SARASALE, ECHCHANKULAM, and AMPAKAMAM areas, Wednesday (15) recovered one bomb, nine electric detonators, two anti personnel mines, two mini Uzi-gun magazines, one belt order, one hundred and twenty-two rounds of 9 mm ammunition, one combat kit, three maps, one Olive Green uniform, hidden in those areas by LTTE terrorists.
Meanwhile, troops in VELLAMULLIVAIKKALKAL, PUTHUKKUDIYIRIPPU and KARIYAMULLIVAIKKAL also recovered one T-56 weapon, one 5.56 mm weapon, four hundred and forty rounds of Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition, eighteen parts of T-56 weapons, one hundred and eighty-five anti personnel mine fuses, sixteen hand grenades, one pistol, one wireless outer, part of a satellite phone, three unidentified radio sets, some radio set spares, two radio base station sets, one binocular, one laser beam sight, twenty eight communication sets, one hundred and sixty rounds of 12.7 ammunition, three pressure mines, one Improvised Explosive Device (IED), made using 82 mm mortar, one 120mm mortar bomb, one misfired Thermo-baric Rocket, one 120 mm base plate, one 81 mm mortar bomb, two Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), twelve maps, one lathe machine and six hundred motorbike tyres during their search and clear operations on the same day (15).
In the meantime, troops operating in KUDUMBIMALAI and KINNIYA areas in the East recovered two T-56 weapons, four T-56 magazines, one hundred and ten rounds of T-56 ammunition, one 7.5 kg claymore mine and eleven anti personnel mines from those areas on Wednesday (15).
