    Sri Lankan Army achievers in the recent Commonwealth Weight Lifting Championship in Penang, Malaysia were lauded and awarded cash prizes during a brief meeting at the office of Chief of Staff Major General Chrishantha de Silva at Army Headquarters on Monday (17) on the instructions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake.

    Fulfilling a long-felt acute need of vehicles in the Army and the Police, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development under a special Pakistan Loan Scheme, was successful in getting a fleet of 100 new Toyota cars for use of official purposes in both organizations, thanks to initiatives, taken by Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development.

  • 5 GW New Swimming Pool Opened


    The newly constructed swimming pool of the 5 Gemunu Watch (GW) headquarters at Warunagama, Wellawaya was opened recently during a brief ceremony. The swimming pool, built at a cost of Rs 1 million could now be used by all ranks serving the 12 Division under the Security Force Headquarters, Central (SFHQ-C).

    At the request of the Civil Development Committee (CDC) in Jaffna, Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) organized a meeting at Anakottai in Manipai with the objective of finding solutions to the spread of Parthenium wild bush and other health concerns in the area.
