Ministry of Defence Hands Over New Vehicles to the Army &;amp; the Police

Fulfilling a long-felt acute need of vehicles in the Army and the Police, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development under a special Pakistan Loan Scheme, was successful in getting a fleet of 100 new Toyota cars for use of official purposes in both organizations, thanks to initiatives, taken by Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development.

A brief ceremony to distribute those vehicles took place at the Ministry of Defence premises Wednesday (19) evening, headed by Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army and Mr N.K Illangakoon, Inspector General of the Police.

High Commissioner for Pakistan, High Commissioner for Sri Lanka, Secretary to Ministry of Law and Order, Defence Attaché for High Commission of Pakistan and a large gathering of tri-service officers were present at the venue.

Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary,   Ministry of Defence and Urban Development symbolically handed over these vehicles to both Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army and N.K. Illangakoon, Inspector General of the Police.
