  • Commander Addressing Kilinochchi Troops Scoffs at International Allegations Against Army & Country


    Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army with the express intention of keeping the ground troops informed of international moves as well as evaluating ongoing Army nation-building assignments, visited the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) and both 66 and 65 Division Headquarters on Monday (4). A Guard of Honour plus a Guard Turnout, dressed in ceremonial garbs, perhaps for the first time in the SFHQ-KLN history, saluted the visiting Army Chief in peacetime unlike the ones that had earlier been accorded, dressed only in camouflage.
  • Ranaviru Fund (UK) Couriers Jell Socks to Disable War Heroes

     The UK based ‘Ranaviru Fund’, an organization, comprised of expatriate Sri Lankans, has couriered a consignment of jell socks, worth about Rs 15 lakhs to the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) for the use of disable War Heroes still under treatment.  The stock, designed particularly for tropical countries, like Sri Lanka, is meant specially for disable War Heroes, engaged in sports activities.

  • Solar Power Units to Enable Studies of Students


    13 solar power units, worth about Rs 2 lakhs, donated by Rotarians of Japan and Colombo were distributed among families with school children, resident in Welankulam, Palamoddai, Pandikettukulam, Iranairuppaikulam, Parasankulam and Wilathikulam Gramaseva sectors in the 61 Division area.     Auspices of the staff at Mirigama Divisional Secretariat supplied the newly-resettled Bogaswewa villagers in Vavuniya with more than 3000 coconut saplings and 1500 banana trees. Distribution of those saplings took place on Friday (1) during a brief ceremony at the centre of the village, Bogaswewa.
