  • All Set for the Mega 'Sannaliyane' Musical Fiesta


    The fund-raising musical extravaganza, ‘Sannaliyane’ with an array of vocalists that represent four generations, is to go on the boards on Sunday (30) at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, with a galaxy of distinguished guests including diplomats. The entertaining feature, organized by the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), presided by Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake through its ‘Brave Hearts’ project, has been scripted by veteran composer, Bandara Eheliyagoda.

  • Oman's Military Officers Call at Army Headquarters


    A delegation of military officers from the Command and Staff College of the Sultanate of Oman, currently in Sri Lanka, arrived at the Army Headquarters Monday (31) morning on a familiarization tour. Major General Chrisantha De Silva, Chief of Staff, on behalf of the Commander of the Army, received the 38-member delegation and discussed matters of importance to the delegates, most of who are still student officers in Oman.

  • 'INDISCIPLINE NOT TOLERATED': COMMANDER DIRECTS MILITARY POLICE TO COOPERATE WITH POLICE PROBE ON SOLDIER'S ALLEGED FAKE NOTE PRINTING


    Kegalle Police on Monday (31) with the cooperation of the Army arrested a soldier, suspected of his involvement in fake currency note printing. Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on hearing of the arrest directed senior officers to swiftly conduct inquiries and support the Police to carry on with investigations in order to find out whether any more of the suspect’s associates, were involved in the fraud.

    Sri Lanka Army in consistent with the government’s environmental policy on vehicle emission tests, commenced its conduct of ‘Green Tests’ on the entire fleet of Army vehicles through LAUGFS Holdings Ltd during a brief ceremony on Tuesday (1) at Bellantara, Attidiya Emission Test Centre.
