(Media Release)
Kegalle Police on Monday (31) with the cooperation of the Army arrested a soldier, suspected of his involvement in fake currency note printing.
Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake on hearing of the arrest directed senior officers to swiftly conduct inquiries and support the Police to carry on with investigations in order to find out whether any more of the suspect’s associates, were involved in the fraud.
It is pertinent to recall here that some handfuls of young men, unaware of the dignity and reputation of the Army, went on joining the Army at the height of the recent war and continue to engage in undisciplined acts of this nature in civil society, thus tarnishing the image of the organization.
Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army underlines that stern action would be taken against such errant Army personnel in consistent with his ‘zero tolerance’ policy on wrongdoers. (Ends)
