  • Dental Clinic Held for the Benefit of School Students


    681 Brigade of the 68 Division under the Security Force Headquarters – Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) with the objective of providing dental care, conducted a mobile dental clinic at Mullivaikkal West High School for the benefit of students in the area.  The dental clinic saw a total of 350 students receive dental care consultations and listen to a lecture on oral health during the arrangement.
      
  • New Altar Built by Army Opened


    A new altar, put up by the 592 Brigade troops of the 59 Division at the St Anthony’s church in Mamulai village was opened on Sunday (14) during a brief ceremony, attended by the parish priest, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division, 591 and 592 Brigade Commanders, devotees and a gathering of civilians.  
  • Staff at Military Hospital Undergo Medical Screening


    The ongoing ‘Healthy Army - Healthy Nation’ (HAHN) programme, aimed at promoting health standards in the Army as per the conceptual notion of the Commander of the Army, recently held an awareness programme on ‘non communicable diseases’ for medical officers, paramedics and minor staff at the Military Hospital at Narahenpita.

  • Kilinochchi Students Get Bicycles & School Accessories

    Guna Jaya Sathuta Padanama’ (Goodness Foundation) once again launched its humanitarian assistance for the benefit students in Kilinochchi and distributed a stock of push bicycles and school accessories during a brief ceremony at Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) on Tuesday (16).

  • 59 Division Anniversary Events Select 'Strongest Soldier'


    Religious and military formalities marked the series of the 7th anniversary commemorative arrangements of the 59 Division Headquarters of the Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT). On the directions of Brigadier N.A.P.C Napagoda, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 59 Division, the ceremonies started with an all night Pirith chanting plus a Heel Daana (breakfast), the following day (Dec 12). 
  • Mullaittivu Students Given Incentives for Schooling


    Nithya Kalyani Jewellers’, ‘Hydramani Apparels’ and UK - based ‘Tesco Company’ jointly sponsored the supply of school uniforms to the students in Mullaittivu area in coordination with the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) during a recent ceremony, held at Mulliyaveli Vidyanandan Vidyalayam. Under the project, 80 students were awarded school books and accessories. In addition, new uniforms for another 373 students, were also given away at the same occasion. 
  • Casual Civil Employees in the Army to be Made Permanent


    Sri Lanka Army’s Directorate of Civil Administration, on a directive given by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, has taken steps to absorb a total of about 3000 civil employees in the Army into the permanent cadre to be in line with the budget proposals - 2015, submitted by the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
     
     
  • Buddhist Monk Sponsors Donation of Essential Items to Students & Pregnant Mothers


    Troops of the 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) of the 222 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters-East (SFHQ-E), following sponsorship given by Ven Galigamuwe Ghandeepa Thero, organized the distribution of school accessories to 500 students, dry ration packets for 100 pregnant mothers, two wheelchairs for two disable civilians and 10 cattle for low-income groups in Trincomalee on Sunday (14).
  • 'Laksenpaya' Home Garden in Kandy Selected the Best in City Limits


    The farm garden of the Commander’s official residence ‘Laksenpaya’ premises in Kandy was selected as the best garden farm in the town precincts of Kandy in a competition, conducted jointly  by the Governor’s Office of the Central Province, Agricultural Ministry of the Central Province and the Agricultural Department of the  Central Province on Monday (15).
     
  • New Artillery Colonel Commandant Assumes Office


    Major General S.A.A.L Perera assumed duties as the 17th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) Regiment on Thursday (11) during a brief ceremony, held at the SLA Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda.  Soon after his arrival at the venue, he paid his tribute to fallen War Heroes of the Regiment by laying a flower wreath at the Regimental monument.
