Staff at Military Hospital Undergo Medical Screening

The ongoing ‘Healthy Army - Healthy Nation’ (HAHN) programme, aimed at promoting health standards in the Army as per the conceptual notion of the Commander of the Army, recently held an awareness programme on ‘non communicable diseases’ for medical officers, paramedics and minor staff at the Military Hospital at Narahenpita.

Around the same time, all those attendees were screened for any diseases or other ailments since their health and fitness were important to the sound maintenance of the hospital services. Brigadier (Mrs) A.S.M Wijewardana, Consultant Physician was instrumental in organizing the programme.

Major General S.H Munasinghe, Army Health Services Director General, Brigadier K.P Sumanapala, Army Medical Services Director, Colonel K.P.N Pathirana, Commanding Officer at the Military Hospital, Dr V.T.S.K Siriwardena, Director, Non Communicable Diseases, Ministry of Health and all medical officers, together with members of the nursing staff and civil staff participated in the day’s programme.

All those participants underwent medical screening for diabetes, chronic kidney diseases and other ailments after the lectures were over. The event coincided with the ‘Health Week’ of the Ministry of Defence.
