  • Army New Year Festival Held on Low Key


    The Sinhala and Tamil New Year festive season across the country made its entry to the Colombo Malay Cricket Club grounds Friday (10) morning as both officers and soldiers of the Army Headquarters joined hands together to celebrate the auspicious event, giving prominence to the traditional New Year games and other associated events.
     
  • 66 Division & 663 Brigade Hold Their Separate New Year Festival

     
    66 Division and 663 Brigade of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) held their separate New Year festivals on Wednesday (8) and Friday (10) respectively with a large number of civil and Army personnel attending. Different games of traditional and fun making nature dominated celebrations in these two Army formations.
     
  • Army Cricket Tournament Gives Victory to Ordnance Corps Cricketers

     
    The Army six-a-side Cricket Tournament which was organized by the Army Cricket Committee concluded successfully at the Free Trade Zone Grounds, Koggala on Saturday (11). A total of 29 teams participated in the tournament which began on Friday (10). The final match of the Army cricket sixes was held on Saturday. Major General Mahinda Ambanpola, Deputy Chief of Staff, at the invitation of Major General Ubaya Medawela, Chairman, Army Cricket Committee.....
     
  • New Year Festivals Held by 65, 57 Divisions & 11 GR


    Troops of the 65 Division, 57 Division and 11 Gajaba Regiment of the 651 Brigade, all under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) held their separate New Year festivals with the participation of a large number of civil and Army personnel at the 65 Divisional Headquarter premises, 57 Division at their own premises and 11 Gajaba Regiment troops at Mulankavil playground during April 11 - 14.

  • General Amnesty for Army Absentees Extended up to April 25


    The general amnesty period, offered to Army absentees, enabling them to receive their legal discharge from the Army has now been extended by ten more days until April 25, 2015 after its previous deadline expires on Thursday (16). The positive response, hitherto received from the absentees crossed the total figure 13,600 who reached respective Regimental Centres in search of discharge after the general amnesty period came into effect on April 1, 2015. 
     
  • Computerized Wheel Balancing Goes to SFHQ-E


    Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME), establishing its essential mechanical wings in the East, recently opened the new computerized wheel alignment and wheel balancing section at the 3 SLEME workshop in Minneriya. Major General T.N Jayasuriya, Colonel Commandant, SLEME and Director General, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering as the Chief Guest at the invitation.....
     
  • Another New House Built by Army Troops Given to Rehabilitated Former Combatant


    Mr. Balasundaram Sudarshan, a rehabilitated former LTTE member with two children from Nedunkarni area on Thursday (16) was the recipient of a New Year gift by way of a new house, constructed by the troops following sponsorship extended by The ‘Guna Jaya Sathuta Padanama’ (Foundation of Goodness) and businessmen of the area.
  • Pakistan Army's Log School Commandant Arrives at Army Headquarters



    Strengthening bilateral understanding and exchange of knowledge on logistics, Brigadier Muhammad Azim Iqbal, Commandant, Army School of Logistics in Pakistan arrived at the Army Headquarters this morning (17) in order to pay a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva before he sets out his rest of the agenda in Sri Lanka.
