Another New House Built by Army Troops Given to Rehabilitated Former Combatant


Mr. Balasundaram Sudarshan, a rehabilitated former LTTE member with two children from Nedunkarni area on Thursday (16) was the recipient of a New Year gift by way of a new house, constructed by the troops following sponsorship extended by The ‘Guna Jaya Sathuta Padanama’ (Foundation of Goodness) and businessmen of the area.

Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) taking this initiative after hearing that the beneficiaries were living in a shanty-type slum, explored possibilities of building a new house for the family.

Construction of the new house was carried out by 11 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops of the 62 Division under the supervision of Brigadier K.G.D. Perera, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Division. Major General Boniface Perera symbolically handed over the keys of the new house to the family of Mr. Balasundaram Sudarshan and his children during a simple ceremony.

In the meantime, Major General Boniface Perera around the same time distributed two artificial limbs for disable civilians in the area.

General Officer Commanding, 62 Division, 623 Brigade Commander, Commanding Officer of 11 GW, senior officers, state officials and villagers attended the event.
