  • Army Report on LLRC Recommendations Handed Over to Secretary Defence


    Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya on Thursday (24) handed over the Report of the Board of Officers on the Implementation of the Recommendations made by the LLRC to Mr Gotabaya Rajapakasa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development during a media briefing at Ministry of Defence auditorium.
     
  • US Delegation Enlightened on Army Roles in Jaffna


    A high level 10-member US delegation, currently in Sri Lanka during a tour to Jaffna met Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Sunday (27).   • 233 Brigade Pockets Out Personal Money to Help the Needy


    East-based 233 Brigade Headquarters, using its own initiatives recently took a large stock of readymade garments, confectionaries and snack packets for distribution among needy sections at Tikkana remote village, close to Kadiraweli. Colonel W.S Ariyasinghe, Commander, 233 Brigade, Mrs Ariyasinghe, the spouse of the Brigade Commander, selected pre-school children of down-trodden families in the area for distribution of those goodwill gestures on their own.....
  • Palaly Farm to Use New Sprinkling Water System


    The Army-maintained Palaly Farm, covering an extent of about 180 acres is to receive a boom when it is fully introduced to a time-saving sprinkler watering system. Considering the largeness of the farm and constraints experienced when water is supplied to the crops, Directorate of Agriculture in the Army has introduced this sprinkling system.....
  • US Dy Asst Secretary of Defence for South & South East Asia Calls on Commander


    Mr Vikram Singh, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for South and South East Asia, currently in Sri Lanka as part of a high-level three-member US delegation, called on Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army, Monday (28) afternoon at the Army Headquarters, Colombo 3. During the cordial meeting, both of them discussed bilateral issues of relevance and importance.

  • 511 Brigade Coordinates Cattle Donation


    Giving a helping hand to those who are trying to improve their livelihood, the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) distributed 6 cattle among agricultural families living in Atchelu area. Those cattle saved from slaughter by Ven. Ahangama Ananda Thero of Sri Vijayamangalaramaya at Wellawatte, Colombo 6 were delivered to SFHQ-J for distribution.
  • Army Personnel Enable Police to Arrest Three with 501.6 grams of Heroin


    Active assistance given by Army personnel enabled the Police Narcotics Bureau to arrest three suspects, engaged in the sale of narcotics to foreign tourists on Tuesday (29) late night, together with 501.6 grams of Heroin from Dehiwala area. Army personnel on being informed of this clandestine business remained vigilant for a couple of days before the Police were tipped to take those drugdealers into custody with Heroin, brought down here to be sold to foreigners visiting Sri Lanka.
