Palaly Farm to Use New Sprinkling Water System

The Army-maintained Palaly Farm, covering an extent of about 180 acres is to receive a boom when it is fully introduced to a time-saving sprinkler watering system.

Considering the largeness of the farm and constraints experienced when water is supplied to the crops, Directorate of Agriculture in the Army has introduced this sprinkling system to an extent of 3 acres, to begin with which has been found highly effective and useful for the purpose.

In response to a request made by Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), Colonel Buwenaka Gunaratne, Director Agriculture designed the system to suit the farm’s requirements.

The farm provides quality and fresh vegetables to the troops and the surplus is marketed at cheaper rates in Jaffna.
